Using the Photo Resize app: Step-by-step instructions to get started

Updated over a week ago

Here are the steps to use our Shopify Photo Resize app

Step 1 - Set up your image size template

After installing the app, you'll be asked to select your preferred image settings. Here's a brief explanation of each setting.

First, choose your resize method: Add Frame or Cropping.

  • Add Frame: This option adds padding or borders around your image to achieve the desired aspect ratio. It preserves the entire original image, so no part of your photo gets cut off.

  • Cropping: This option resizes your image by trimming the edges to match the selected aspect ratio. Be aware that this may cut off parts of your product if it extends close to the image’s borders.

After selecting your resizing option, choose your preferred aspect ratio for your product images. You can select from 1:1, 2:3, or 4:3 aspect ratios.

Lastly, you can edit the specific image settings by clicking the Pen icon at the top of the options.

With the ‘Add Frame’ method, you can choose the color of the padding or border that’s added around your image.

Step 2 - Analyze your store

Click the ‘Let’s Start’ button. The app will begin analyzing your store to identify which product images don’t meet the image settings you selected. This step is important to ensure your images match your chosen requirements.

All the images that do not meet your image settings will be recommended for resizing.

Step 3 - Select images to resize

Once the app finishes analyzing, you'll be redirected to the Image Analysis page. This is where you can select images to resize.

Our Pixc: Photo Resize app automatically recommends all the images that don't match your image settings for resizing.

However, if you want to try the Pixc: Photo Resize app first, you can use the ‘filters’ to choose which product photos to resize. The filter system works similarly to Shopify’s filters, so it should feel familiar and easy to use.

Step 4 - Preview selected images

We strongly recommend previewing your selected images first before resizing. This way, you can visualize how your product photos will look in your store without using your 50 free images or paying.

To do this, click the 'Preview' button. No actual changes will be made during this step.

Step 5 - Resize your images

If you're happy with the images, click the Resize button.

If this is your first time using the Pixc: Photo Resize app, you still have 50 free images to resize. Otherwise, the app will direct you to the payment page, where you can select the payment option that suits you.

The Photo Resize app will begin resizing your images and automatically update your store with the resized versions. You can step away or even close the page while the app works—we’ll send you an email notification once the process is finished.
